Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the atmosphere. There are many oxidizing states of the nitrogen. Nitrate is one of nitrogen species in the water.
When increase nitrate concentration of the water, we called that water is polluted. Eutrophication is a result of high amount of nitrate in the water.
Chemists, Engineers involve to reduce the nitrate content of the water by reduce the waste disposal to the water.
Therefore, nitrate measurements are more important. There are many ways to measure nitrate in the water.
